" I AM REAL BEAUTY"
Good Morning Dolls,
Today lets do check up on the Valentines Day Love Bug Challenge. I realized while doing this challenge it has not only inspired the girls I have committed to inspire but it really keeps me inspired as well. There is no better way than to begin the journey of loving yourself. I must be transparent and share that while I growing up and even at times as an adult I struggle with my confidence. I couldn't and still understand seeing whats considered beautiful in the magazines and on the televisions wasn't a strong reflection of what I saw/see in the mirror. When I was younger I would mimic the videos and play dress up and perform for my family. This was the only time I felt confident and beautiful. Now I am starting to learn where beauty begins, in your heart. As long as my heart is on a journey that I am beautiful, then what I see in the media doesn't have to define what really beauty is. Lets take a stand today, look in the mirror hold your right arm up and scream as loud as you can : "I am Real Beauty"!!! Embrace your unique beauty.

Daily Checkup
Good Evening Dolls,
Sorry for the late post, I'm a little under the weather, I couldn't let this day go by without sharing my thoughts. I week ago I overheard a women ask an eight grader was she pregnant. This question blew my mind. I thought to myself, is this what we are expecting from our girls in the eight grade? Why was the woman comfortable enought to ask a girl this question? Why wasn't the eight grader caught off guard or offended? I want more than anything for not only the young girls to have higher expectations and not fall to what they consider the norm, however, the women need to start looking at all girls as ground breakers who will not stand to be counted out. Anything a young girl dreams of they can achieve. If you know any young ladies take the rest of the day to reach out to them and ask them their dreams. Inspire them to go for it and let nothing to stand in their way. As for any young girl reading this post, know that the world is just a stepping stone to a higher life... Break barriers by any means nessasary.

Love for Valentines Day
Good Morning Dolls,
First let me apologize for not posting for the past two days. It has been really hectic being stuck in traffic and getting to work late. This has taught or reminded me of time waits for no one. I do want to mention the Valentine Day gift bags that were given to the Pure & Sure Dolls. These bags were given out of pure love. The bracelets had a note attached and reminded the girls of each day they place them on their wrist, is a daily reminder of them making a commitment to live a PURE lifestyle. The girls were overwhelmed that the organization had them in mind. Englewood would not be counted out. P&S will continue to pour into each and every girl.

17th Ward Alderman Latasha Thomas w/ Ebony Clincy
Hello Dolls,
I hope all have had a wonderful weekend. Today I want to celebrate one of Pure & Sure Dolls, Ebony Clincy. She is one of the few who was recognized for a Black History Essay. I know many people has counted Englewood out as a place for hope or prosperity. This proves the south side of Chicago (Englewood) has great things going on and have a lot to offer. I am so proud of Ebony, a Pure & Sure Doll. Go Ebony!!

Love Bug Challenge
Happy Love Day,
Today we reflect on the Meaning of
Valentines Day. Traditionally, this day is expressed by couples displaying their
public affection and feelings with gifts, dinner and kind gestures. All of this
is great, but a person can never truly appreciate any love offerings if he/she
doesn’t love themself first. So many people look for the meaning of love in wrong places. There aren’t any store brought gifts that can express the emotion
of love. Sadly to say the world has
darken and water-down the true meaning of love. This is why Pure & Sure is
promoting girls to learn to love themselves first. If they can learn to love
themselves then when false love is presented it would have to exceed their first
experience of truly loving themselves…hence no one can love you better than yourself. Loving themselves would not only comfort them but sustain them with unconditional fulfillment until marriage. LOVE is an emotion we are required to give
away freely, but how can we give away something we have no idea what "it" is.
Take a moment today and love yourself first. I am proposing a Love Challenge to
all young girls and women to use the remaining month of February to become
curious about you. Learn what brings you joy and peace. Get to know yourself, embrace your flaws and
learn from your decisions and experiences. Lets try to accept these characteristics
of LOVE: Love is patient, love is kind,
love is not jealous, it does not boast, it does not become conceited, it does
not behave dishonorably, it is not selfish, it does not become angry, it does
not keep a record of wrongs, it does not rejoice at unrighteousness, but
rejoices with the truth, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all
things, endures all things.
Love never ends.

How To Raise a Lady: Good Manners Sir or Ma'am
Good Morning Dolls,
Teaching your daughter such politesse should not be a matter of personal taste but of being respectful and professional (at some point). Using greetings/phrases Sir or Ma'am, should be grounded in formalities. Choosing to use these should be required for both close family and friends as and professional acquaintances. As a young girls gets older or being introduced, she my choose such titles by age. Golden Rule: As adults are always older than children, these titles should alway be used. These wonderful greetings can sure eliminate grating responses as "Yeah", "Huh", "Nah", "Whats up", and gestures as nodding your head or waving. Today lets practice and share this with a young girl.

How to Raise a Lady: Manners 101
Good Morning,
Children are not born with good manners. Good manners begin and end with common courtesy. Courtesy is based on respect, civility, kindness and consideration. The Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Today lets bark upon making the world an even more respectful place. Teach a young girl when to say "PLEASE", "THANK YOU", AND "EXCUSE ME".

Love Someone Else
Hello All,
I hope you all had a wonderful and fulfilled weekend. It really does something to my being to reach out to these young girls. This weekend I focused on reaching out to local DCF's offices. I have made partnership with them to do some workshops for the young girls who have been displaced. Although, they were a little bit apprehensive at first, but after forwarding emails from a year ago stating the future work they desired to do with Pure & Sure it took off from there. I have had the opportunity to speak with displaced girls before and it was a sad and broken to feel their pain rejection they had endured. We must do our part to reach out the the hearts of these girls. Today, go out your way to reach out to a broken girl. LOVE IS NO GOOD, IF IT ISNT GIVEN AWAY!

Mirror Mirror
I know I am a little late, but I couldn't let today go by without reaching out with an activity. Do you remember the old story Snow White? The Queen in “Snow White” possessed a mirror “who's the fairest of them all” ...The most infamous question. Today I want you to look in the mirror at yourself, admire your eyes, lips, nose, skin color, and don't wait for the mirror or anyone else to answer you, You tell the mirror I AM the fairest of them all. No matter what you have been told or what others have said about you, know that you are beautiful. As a young girl or women don't let anyone define your beauty, embrace all your unique beauty. Write 2 things you admire about your beauty and put them on a post-it note and post them by your mirror.
That is all for today.

Wrap your arms around yourself and give yourself a great big Hug! You deserve it, if no one tells you, you are awesome and worthy to love yourself. Don't wait for acceptance from others, start by loving yourself and giving love to others. Hug at least 10 young girls and tell them you love them. Its so rewarding!
